EP 74-Why Is Agriculture Media Important?
Agriculture feeds the world, but not everyone understands where food comes from and how it’s produced. Media helps close this gap between consumer and producer. Giving the consumer an inside look at the operation and how it works. This helps put a face behind the food on people’s dinner plates. One of the most important roles in agriculture media is education, through the media, farmers receive timely updates on livestock markets, products to use on their fields this season, and the incoming weather. When media and agriculture meet and agriculture can tell its story, that’s when we can knock out the false narratives surrounding farmers and their operations. Through podcasts and social media platforms agriculture media provides a sense of community for these farmers and ranchers, making their jobs, a little less isolating. Media also helps the industry adapt and evolve from changes in precision agriculture to agriculture marketing. Producers stay current in what’s going on. Without agriculture media, the voices of agriculture would be quieter, the stories would be incomplete, and the gap between producer and consumer would continue to grow.
