Sometimes we get really good at being clear with our communication, but not really honest with it. As leaders we are so used to being in the seat of logic and setting aside our feelings to be a better critical thinker that we forget that our team is made up of people. Having that honest and emotional connection is just as important when communicating as is being clear with what we expect.
